Wonder is a heartwarming, uplifting book about kindness and courage. You must read this if you’re going into 5th grade, just finished 5th grade, have ever been in 5th grade, or are the parent of the aforementioned. Great family discussion book, and if you enjoyed Wonder check out Palacio’s other related books 365 Days of Wonder and Auggie & Me.

Wonder is a good book and exhibits love. Throughout the book the interesting plot line keeps you hooked. It is a sad, uplifting, and a lovable book. At some points it makes me want to cry. I recommend this book for ages 11-18.

A book for all ages (my mom couldn’t put it down). Highly recommended because it shows the beauty in everyone, no matter what they look like and has an amazing ending!

“This is one of the most uplifting stories to come along in a while. Fifth-grader Auggie is a normal kid, except that he has been homeschooled till now because of a facial deformity that he has had since birth. This is a story of acceptance -- a story about going beyond the surface to get to know someone. Great family and classmate relationships ring true and make this a story that can make you both laugh and cry, and one you will never forget.”

Description

"I won't describe what I look like. Whatever you're thinking, it's probably worse.
"
August (Auggie) Pullman was born with a facial deformity that prevented him from going to a mainstream school--until now. He's about to start 5th grade at Beecher Prep, and if you've ever been the new kid then you know how hard that can be. The thing is Auggie's just an ordinary kid, with an extraordinary face. But can he convince his new classmates that he's just like them, despite appearances?
R. J. Palacio has written a spare, warm, uplifting story that will have readers laughing one minute and wiping away tears the next. With wonderfully realistic family interactions (flawed, but loving), lively school scenes, and short chapters, "Wonder" is accessible to readers of all levels.

"From the Hardcover edition."

About the Author

R. J. PALACIO lives in NYC with her husband, two sons, and two dogs. For more than twenty years, she was an art director and graphic designer, designing book jackets for other people while waiting for the perfect time in her life to start writing her own novel. But one day several years ago, a chance encounter with an extraordinary child in front of an ice cream store made R. J. realize that the perfect time to write that novel had finally come. "Wonder" is her first novel. She did not design the cover, but she sure does love it. "From the Hardcover edition."
