Marie Dern
discusses Jungle Garden Press (begun in 1974) and Red Berry Editions (started with Jane Downs in 2008).
Through Jungle Garden Press, Dern makes and publishes fine artist's books as a letter press printer, book binder, and collaborator with poets and artists. Today she presents her recent work Not an Exit by Bill Berkson (edition of fifty copies) which she letter press printed and bound; and "Tree Heart/True Heart," a letterpress-printed broadside of the poem by Kay Ryan (edition of thirty copies), with whom she's collaborated many times.
Red Berry Editions publishes work (from design to editing) by writers and visual arts in the form of trade books, art catalogues, chapbooks and deluxe books.
