The Pale King
What can I say about The Pale King that hasn't already been said? It's the last masterpiece by a writer who was, to my mind, the greatest of his generation. It's also a book about tax processing that manages to be deeply engaging, laugh-out-loud funny, and incredibly insightful. More modestly, though maybe more importantly, it made me feel more alive and fully aware and less alone, something the greatest fiction has always done, and which Wallace excelled at. Thanks, Mr. Wallace. It was a pleasure.
