Midnight Rising

A wonderfully readable history of John Brown and his raid on Harper’s Ferry, which sparked the Civil War. John Brown was a fanatic and an extremist, yet he fought to end slavery, a cause that we can all agree was right. What a strange and startling light is cast on our present world of fundamentalists, and terror. This book kept me compelled and curious right through to end, and beyond. Highly recommended.
