A brilliant, entertaining, and yes, informative book.  James Gleick weaves together history, literature, philosophy, and science in this grand look at the concept of information and how it evolved wit hand helped shape various technologies and cultural practices, from dictionaries to the Internet.  If you read one non-fiction book this year, make it this one!
